Ive been writing blogs and articles about the many different things Ive learned over the years. Even as CEO of Lindemann Chimney Suppy, I do not pretend to be a scholar or the next greatest American entrepreneur. I am just a guy that woke up one day and found myself rubbing my shoulders with a ton of business owners, world-class speakers and chimney sweeps, every day of my life. I have learned to listen and ask questions far more than I speak. Therefore, I have acquired a tremendous amount of knowledge that is 100% specific to our industry. In years past I shared the things I learned with my team at Lindemann Chimney and that was about it. One day not too long ago I realized that I was not being a good steward of this knowledge if I just kept it to myself. With the help of a couple co-workers pushing me to write more and to speak more, a lot of the things I have learned have been shared.
I am honored to have beenthe keynote speaker at the 2011 NCSG convention. Icompiled informationt likeJim Collins did in Good to Great. If you have not read this book, you should do so NOW. I think it is one of the quintessential business books of all time. Jim Collins went on a tour, finding companies around the country that truly went from good to great. He interviewed them and found what the common threads were. Its a great book, which has some very valuable useable content. If you havent read it, Id be happy to send you a copy in exchange for some additional input for the ongoingresearch I am doing. If you have read “Good to Great” I will substitute a good read that speaks to your biggest challenge.
