Energy Top

The ENERGY TOP and Energy Top+ Dampers are a top mounted damper that also serves as a chimney cap. When closed, this low profile damper is a great solution for saving "paid"  energy dollars for historical homes with leaky or missing dampers. The Energy Top+, which features a stainless steel chimney cap, is featured at the lower left corner of the page.

The Energy Top and Energy Top+ have the tightest seal in the industry - uniquely using a refrigerator type gasket.

The Energy Top+ features a stainless steel spark arrestor chimney cap.

The Energy Top and Energy Top+ Dampers should always be in the open position (at left) when the fire is burning and until all embers are completely out.

The ENERGY TOP and ENERGY TOP+ dampers attach to the top of the flue tile on fireplace chimneys. Our models are sized by common flue tiles and available in 6 Sizes:

ENERGY TOP and ENERGY TOP+ Dampers are made for use only with open woodburning masonry fireplace chimneys and are NOT suitable for use in these installations:

• Don't use on chimneys serving vented gas logs. Vented gas logs require the fireplace damper to be removed completely or fixed to a permanently open position; this is to assure that soot, fumes and carbon monoxide do not enter your home.
• Use only on vent-free gas logs if approved by the appliance manufacturer and the local authority having jurisdiction. However, we don't recommend it because the moisture generated from the gas logs could damage the chimney structure.
• Don't use on chimneys serving other fuels, wood stoves or other appliances such as inserts, furnaces, etc.

INSTALLATION

Energy Top and Energy Top+ Dampers can be installed by homeowners who feel comfortable working on a roof, but Lindemann Chimney Co. Inc. strongly recommends you use the services of a qualified chimney sweep who can also inspect your chimney and provide other valuable home safety services.

Energy Top and Energy Top+ Dampers may be used on round factory-built chimneys venting a fireplace. An RS Adapter for solid-pack chimney or a RS Adapter for air-cooled chimney is available to make this transition. Note: This may affect the fireplace listing. Check with the fireplace manufacturer before installing the adapter and damper.
